Types Of Condos

If you are thinking about looking for Fremont California real estate, then you might be interested in purchasing a condominium unit. Over the past couple of decades, no housing type has seen a rise in popularity quite like condos. Downtown Toronto to the San Francisco Bay area, condominium sales have gone wild as people seek a more affordable home closer in to the city.

With the rise in popularity of the condo unit has come a diversification of the types of unit a person can purchase. In this article, we are going to take a look at some of the different types of condos you can expect to find. These general rules don't just apply to condos in the Fremont area; you will find these differences whether you are looking for a condo for sale in Arlington TX or Newark NJ.

What's in a Name?

It is important to get one distinction out of the way immediately. Many people believe that the terms condo and loft are used for different types of property. However, the units they describe are virtually indistinguishable. Rather, the terms are used to describe permanent ownership or a rental suite. Thus, you could have apartments (rented out to tenants) in a complex such as Charlie Condos and at the same time have condo units, lived in by the owner.

Another important distinction in the condo world is that between a condo and a loft condo. Typically, a condominium label will suggest that the units look like a typical home, but smaller. A unit in Waterpark City condos, for example, will have separated rooms for different purposes such as dining, food preparation, and sleeping.

Condo lofts, on the other hand, are generally wide open spaces without built in walls. They tend to have high ceilings, and have been developed out of older industrial buildings.

High or Low?

Condo developments also come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and the unit you purchase will be up to your personal tastes. High rise condo developments tend to have a lot more units, with incredible views from the top. Low rise developments tend to be a bit more spread out.

In a lot of modern cases, condo developers are combining the ideas of high and low rise condo buildings. Mega developments taking up several blocks may include a few high rise towers as well as some low rise connecting buildings. There also may be shopping centers and green spaces incorporated in the complex.

Inside the building

Finally, expect to have some variation in your choices when it comes to the actual units within the condo development. Bachelor suites are always small, with one if any bedrooms. One bedroom condos are a bit bigger, with one room set apart privately. Two bedrooms suites tend to be as large as condo units get. Any of those types of condo units may include a separate room such as a den.

We hope that this information proves useful to you, whether you are looking at Square One condominiums in Mississauga or Baywood Villas here in Fremont. And remember, if you need a realtor to help you find the perfect type of condo, don't hesitate to call!
